NEIL ENGEL
Neil Engel is a distinguished jazz trumpeter and composer, originally from Cape Town and now firmly based in Johannesburg. With a Bachelor of Music in jazz performance from UCT, Engel's expertise is centred in the rich and evocative realm of jazz.
His impressive collaborations include luminaries like the Jazz at Lincoln Centre Big Band, Black Coffee, Abdullah Ebrahim, Sibongile Khumalo, and Nduduzo Makhathini. As a jazz trumpeter, Engel's evocative and soulful performances have left an indelible mark on both local and international stages.
Beyond his mastery of the trumpet and his jazz compositions, Engel extends his talents as a pianist, producer, and vocalist, delving into various genres. His production credits include a live rendition of the album 'All of The Above' for J-Live, a rapper from New York City, recorded in Johannesburg's 'Untitled Basement' and set for release in 2024.
Engel's versatility further shines through his compositional contributions to the Netflix series 'Blood and Water' Season 1 and his arrangement of a 4-minute disco medley for the Netflix production 'Runs In The Family.'
